Amelia's new dress

Amelia has been wanting to wear only dresses this summer, and she didn't have very many until recently.  By the way, Becky, she really likes the orange gingham dress that you lent us, and has worn it three times already in a week and a half.  Anyway, when I saw this idea to turn a man's shirt into a girl's dress on pinterest, I thought it would be fun to give it a try.

It was actually really easy; I cut the skirt out of the bottom of the shirt, and so I used the bottom hem and the buttons that were already there.  The straps are cut from the sleeves and are ruffled using elastic.  It would have taken only an hour to put together, if I hadn't sewed the straps on backwards.  Twice.  Oops.

I picked up this man's XXL shirt at the St. Vincent de Paul dig & save thrift store, which sells clothes by the pound, and I was there on a Wednesday which is half price day, so I'm pretty sure I got this shirt for something like $0.30.  What a deal!

  1. Wow, that's amazing! You should make more! You should also have Amelia model her dresses and take pictures. I want to see one of her in the orange dress. Has she worn the purple one yet?
